IT Contest

The  IT Marathon Contest challenges participants' basic knowledge in wide areas of IT, including: simple programming, Illustration using Graphics and Web Design, and basic computing systems configuration and troubleshooting.

Teams are given a set of problems in the above categories and can work on any problem in any of the categories at any time during the contest. Each solved problems is submitted to the judge for evaluation.

The team that scores the shortest cumulative timestamp for all correct submissions wins the contest. So teams are ranked based on the sum of the timestamps of their submissions. Once a judge deems a solution correct for say a programming problem, a submission timestamp is assigned to that submission and then added to the previously accumulated timestamps if any, to determine the team rank.

This is a two stage contest, in which all the participating teams will be given problems at stage 1 to solve in a specified period of time. The highest 50% of the participating teams will proceed to stage 2. Both stages are held on the same day. Top three teams in the second stage are awarded medals and prizes.

The city's name comes from the Arabic word for spring, after the natural hot spring called Al Fayidah. Al Ain is approximately 160 kilometers from Abu Dhabi, and borders with the Sultanate of Oman and its town Buraimi.
