This is the last day for PowerPoint Instruction.  IAT desires for you to now learn about Word during Weeks 8, 9, and 10.  Your LC1 Exam will take place during Week 11.  IAT has not set aside a Review Week or Make-up Week for your ICT class.  You must diligently work during class and complete unfinished work outside of the the IAT Lab.  Come prepared for class.

LC1 System-wide Exams

Be aware that the Exams are written by the Directorate and given to all students in all IATs.  Mr. B. does not see or know the items on the ICT Exam.

Important Reminder:  STAY ON-TASK.  (WORK THROUGHOUT YOUR CLASS.)

STUDENTS WHO ARE OFF-TASK (NOT WORKING FOR ANY REASON) LOSE PARTICIPATION MARKS.

Definitions OF On-Task and Off-Task

On-Task

  1. Continuing on a path toward a goal.
  2. Concentrating or focusing on what is to be done
  3. Doing whatever is appropriate for a given period of time

Off-Task:

  1. Any behavior that prevents or distracts you or someone else from continuing on a path toward a goal.
  2. Any behavior that prevents or distracts you or someone else from concentrating or focusing on what is to be done.
  3. Any behavior that prevents or distracts you or someone else from doing whatever is appropriate for a given period of time.

 

Examples of Off-task, Disruptive, and Unacceptable Behavior:

  • Unacceptable Verbal Behavior:  refuses to follow instructions, talks when teacher talks, talks to teacher when should be working, shouts out, mimics, threatens other pupils or teacher, makes inappropriate noises.
  • Unacceptable Non-verbal Behavior:  leaving classroom, wanders about classroom, fidgets in seat, horseplay, disrespect for other people’s property.
  • Surfing the Internet, Playing Computer Games, Playing Computer Videos, Checking Email without Permission, Chatting, Playing Computer Music
  • Talking or texting on mobile telephone
  • Talking without permission
  • Eating and drinking or smoking in class
  • Out of seat
  • Brushing hair
  • Makeup
  • Passing notes
  • Shouting
  • Throwing objects (paper airplanes, pencils, etc...)
